A venue transformation built for real-world hospitality
A great venue isn’t just about how it looks; it’s about how it works.
The Aviary was a full-scale hospitality refurbishment designed to improve both the guest experience and operational performance.
This wasn’t a surface-level upgrade. It was a considered redesign of how the space functions, flows and feels across different times of day and types of service.
From the bar layout to the lighting, finishes and spatial planning, every element was aligned to create a venue that feels premium while handling the realities of high-traffic hospitality environments.
Scope of Work
This project involved a complete internal redesign and refurbishment of the existing function room and bar, including demolition, reconfiguration and full finish upgrade.
Alldin’s scope included:
- Removal of existing bar, finishes, ceiling elements and redundant services
- Construction of a new custom bar with stone benchtop and tiled frontage
- Installation of beer lines, plumbing, drainage and service infrastructure
- New herringbone timber flooring with waterproofed bar/service zones
- New lighting design including track lighting, pendants and LED feature lighting
- Updated ceiling finish to create a cohesive, low-glare environment
- New double-glazed entry door and glazing treatments
- Construction of a store room and new kitchen access point
- Joinery, shelving, wallpaper and internal finishes throughout
This scope was carefully designed to balance durability, service efficiency and visual impact, ensuring the space performs just as well behind the bar as it does in front of it.
A bar designed around flow, not just form
In any hospitality venue, the bar is where performance matters most.
The new Aviary bar was designed to support efficient service, with clearly defined zones for preparation, service, storage and POS. Integrated lighting, shelving and durable materials ensure the bar can withstand high use while maintaining a refined, high-end appearance.
Rather than simply replacing the old bar, this was an opportunity to redesign how the space works, improving staff movement, reducing friction during peak service and creating a stronger visual anchor for the room.
Lighting that defines the experience
A combination of track lighting, pendant fixtures and LED feature lighting was used to create flexibility throughout the day. During daytime trade, the space benefits from natural light through the glazing. As the venue transitions into the evening, the lighting shifts the atmosphere, highlighting the bar, softening the room and creating a more intimate environment.
This layered lighting approach ensures the venue feels consistent, regardless of time or use.
